AIS recommends steps to prevent annoying spam in iMessage.

31 May 2020: From the current issue that iPhone users in several countries have received spam messages in iMessage for unknown reasons and caused security concerns.

Meanwhile, in Thailand, mobile users on many networks noticed these problems as well. AIS recognizes these concerns and attempts to find the cause of the problem in order to provide customers with confidence when using the service. However, we request to emphasize initially that those spam messages were not sent from AIS.

Accordingly, users can prevent these spam messages in two ways, as follows:

1. Block Sender

Go to the Message menu → Open a conversation → Tap a contact at the top of the conversation → Tap i → Tap the name, phone number, or email address, and then scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Block.

2. Turn off iMessage

Go to the Settings menu → Select Message → Slide the tab to "off" at the iMessage menu.

Although, we recommended you to report messages in iMessage that look like spam or junk. If you get an iMessage from someone who's not saved in your Contacts, you will see a Report Junk link below the message. Tap Report Junk, then tap Delete and Report Junk. After that, Messages will forward the information of the sender, including the message to Apple, as well as delete the message from your device.

AIS cares deeply about protecting our customers’ personal information. We continually strive to assure global best-practice and maintain the highest standards in ensuring the safety of our customers and their personal data.
